My DC Bites: Lunch at Hotel Tabard Inn
Hotel Tabard is located on a quiet street near Dupont Circle, And tucked away in the back of the hotel is a lovely old school restaurant where we stopped by for lunch in between meetings on our second day in DC.
Even though it was a little on the warm side, my colleagues and I opted to indulge in a lunch outside in the ivy covered garden.
Iced tea all around and even though I tried to resist, I couldn’t help but dip into the enormous bread basket that appeared.
We all enjoyed a lovely bowl of chilled sweet corn soup. The silky soup was topped with grilled shrimp for some savory bites. Great in the summer heat.
For our entrees, the three of us diverged and chose vastly different dishes. My eyes were much larger than my stomach so that is how I ended up with a stick-to-your-ribs lunch of hearty gumbo.
My colleagues were much wiser, opting for the lighter choices of a lovely quiche Lorraine and grilled chicken salad with chilled udon noodles.
Because we had a little time to kill and because why not end every meal with a little something sweet, we ordered a peach cobbler topped with a scoop of blueberry ice cream to share.
