Food 365 | Day 224 – 230: Catch-up Part 2

August 18, 2013

Day 224:  Home at Last.  Nothing brings me right back to my regular daily routine like a cup of ice latte and savory biscuit snack from Cafe Grumpy, followed by a leafy salad from Chop’t of course.

Day 225: Quick Bite at Taboonette.  KC, KT and I stopped by Taboonette for a quick dinner before a comedy performance in West Village.  Instead of my usual salmon plate, I ventured out and tried the chicken shawarma plate.  The delicious dark meat was moist and flavorful, even without their amazing hot sauce.

Day 226: Apricots.  I have been neglecting the summer fruits this season.  Apricots have been especially low on my list but one bite of these sweet little things made me wonder why.  Just look at how adorable and vibrant the colors are on these apricots!

Day 227: New Additions at Sullivan Street Bakery.  YS was back for a quick visit so we had to stop by Sullivan Street Bakery for lunch.  I must have stayed away for too long because the bakery had added so many new items.  Including three delicious cookies and a savory broccoli rabe brioche.

Day 228: Pimm’s Cup.  I have been craving a Pimm’s Cup ever since having an unbelievably refreshing one in Berlin.  Luckily, this drink is easy to assemble at home.  The base is mix of strawberries, orange and cucumber slices with a muddle of mint.  A splash of Pimm’s, the drink is topped off with ginger ale.  One sip and I could almost believe that summer is here to stay.

Day 229: Miso Glazed Salmon Plate at Mooncake Foods.  I don’t think I have ever had a proper dine-in experience at Mooncake Foods, a healthy Asian fusion mini chain in the city.  I love their healthy salads as well as the miso glazed salmon plate with brown rice.  Simple, delicious and affordable, it doesn’t get better than this.

Day 230:  Afternoon Snack at Pier i Cafe.  Sure, neither of us were that hungry but the mention of old bay dusted fries had me salivating.  An order to share plus an ice tea on the side, we settled into the waterside seats at the Pier i Cafe in UWS to relax for the afternoon.
