Food 365 | Day 182: Suribachi Mortar and Pestle

I took my new mortar and pestle to some toasted sesame and miso paste to grind it even finer.  Thanks to the fine groves in the bowl and a little elbow grease, I was able to get a much smoother paste that made for a better base for a dressing.  An extra bonus?  The Japanese style mortar and pestle also makes for a beautiful decoration on the counter.
