Food 365 | Day 9: Metropolitan Bakery

In staying with the theme of old school, I went back today to where my food/restaurant hobby (obsession if we are being honest) all started, Philadelphia.  I went into Metropolitan Bakery on Penn campus craving their caneles but also because that is one of the few places still remaining from my college days (not counting FroGro and Wawa).  They ran out of caneles so I settled for their fig bar and saved the chocolate chip cookie for the train ride back (the granola was mostly because I didn’t meet their 10 dollar minimum for credit cards).  Happy to report that the fig bar still tastes the same but when did they start putting cherries in chocolate chip cookies?  Still one of the best cookies though…
