Motorino’s Delicious Slice

October 30, 2011

The pizza debate is as heated if not more so than the burger debate.  Everyone has his own opinion and while I cannot claim an expert on this particular topic, I would like to throw in my two cents.  One place where I like to stop by for a delicious slice of pie is Motorino in East Village.  This little pizza shop serves a few basic classic varieties as well as some more seasonal pies.

For a classic, the Margherita is a great way to go.  The tomato sauce is just light and fresh for the little gaps left on the base between the creamy buffalo mozzarella slices.  The brussel sprouts and pancetta is my personal favorite.  The white pizza is topped with smokey pancetta slices and lightly charred brussel sprout leaves and fior di latte.  The flavor is fresh and garlicky and salty, you really have to try it for youself.  The best part about Motorino‘s pizzas regardless of the topping?  The crust – oh the pillowy crust that cracks on the outside with an inside so chewy and yeasty.  I love saving the crust for last, just savoring each delicious bite.

And if you are interested in a little bit something else in addition to the pizzas, Motorino has a great selection of appetizers.  The clams crostino and marinated beet salad are unique enough to stand on their own but nevertheless, the pizza (and that crust) there is always what draws me back.
