A Brand New Magazine and a Failed Challenge
I was so excited to find that this had finally come in the mail for me.
(and yes, I did hide the issue of OK before taking the shot)
But before flipping through and devouring this content-packed quarterly, I had another mission for the night – Wednesday wings special at Hill Country with KC and DM. I love Hill Country for a little Texas BBQ in the middle of the week. The moist brisket is always on my tray but Wednesdays call for their special (one day only!) of pit smoked wings as well.

Our spread for 3: 24 smoked wings, 1/2 pound moist brisket, mac n cheese, green bean casserole, cucumber salad and corn pudding
I know this might not look like a lot, but we had to wave a white flag an hour and half into the meal. It pains me to leave things on plates (perhaps something to do with my mom’s strict eating rules growing up?) but we had to leave behind 6 of those smoky and spicy wings. In DM’s words, “We must practice our eating and try again!”
Gym is clearly no longer an option for tonight with my stomach stretched so thin. Alas, I am going to begin the Ramen issue and perhaps finally truly master the perfect poached egg.
